Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve been drawn to the outdoors. My mother would chase me out of the house on nice days, and even today I have a hard time sitting still. This first stretch of longer, warmer, sunnier days is like an alarm bell for my soul.
My parents raised me in and around the coastal waters of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, as well as in the woods of northern Virginia. Those places hold some of the most formative moments of my life. Always and ever since, I’ve sought out quiet, beautiful spaces by foot and bike all over New England and the western United States.
And yet, Oregon is a dream world of natural wonders exceeding anything I’ve experienced before. I moved here ten years ago on a grand adventure with my best friend (and now wife), and we know that here we’ve found the deepest reservoirs of opportunity, adventure, and happiness. The Pacific Northwest truly never disappoints.
During this stretch of beautiful weather, I hope you can take time to appreciate the natural wonders of your backyard, your neighborhood, our city, our state, and this incredible bioregion. There is so much to appreciate about our shared home.
Happy Earth Week!
